Memories
We had the good times
and then the bad
When we played in that stream on that hot summer day
And then on that same day when we played in the hay
When you didn’t want to be a team in that sandy brown ring
Because when I felt that sting... it was hard to choke back the constant salty tears
It’s true that
We had The joyful smiles
and then the worst of tears
But the best part about it
was that you carried me away from all my fears
We had the good times
and then the bad
When we played in that stream on that hot summer day
And then on that same day when we played in the hay
When you didn’t want to be a team in that sandy brown ring
Because when I felt that sting... it was hard to choke back the constant salty tears
It’s true that
We had The joyful smiles
and then the worst of tears
But the best part about it
was that you carried me away from all my fears
You posted an earlier draft of the poem too. It's interesting to look at how it changed. Which do you like better and why?
ReplyDeleteI like this 'new edition' of the poem better because I think it gives more imagery... I think more readers can relate to this poem more then the other draft. :)
ReplyDeleteaww melissa this is perfect! It reflects on all of the emotions when you have to give your pony away! I loved the imagery and the feeling! so sweet Melissa
